The commercialization of animal feed, dietary supplements for animals, and veterinary products in the Argentine market is primarily regulated by the National Service of Agri-Food Health and Quality (SENASA). This agency is responsible for registering products and issuing the Certificate of Use and Commercialization, with the aim of ensuring that they comply with current regulations and are suitable for use in companion or production animals.

SENASA thoroughly evaluates the nutritional aspects, shelf life, efficacy, and safety of the products. In the case of animal feed and dietary supplements, the functional properties of the ingredients, their composition, and the claimed benefits (HEALTH CLAIMS and NUTRITIONAL CLAIMS) are analyzed. For veterinary products, therapeutic indications, dosages, withdrawal periods, and usage warnings are reviewed in order to protect both animal and human health.

Additionally, the agency conducts a comprehensive risk and hazard analysis of the ingredients, additives, and excipients present in the products. This process aims to ensure that the products do not pose a risk to animals, consumers of animal-derived food, or the environment.

SENASA, in coordination with the Customs Revenue and Control Agency (ARCA), is responsible for authorizing the importation, exportation, and commercialization of these products in Argentina.
